IVF Step by Step

1. Ovarian Stimulation:
Medication is given (gonadotropins), in order to stimulate the production of the ova. In this stage, monitoring will be provided through regular ultrasounds to examine the size and number of follicles, until their maturation by the hCG. Based on the results of this checks, the dosage of the medication that has to be applied daily will be calculated, which vary depending on every patient.
2. Follicular Puncture:

By the use of sedatives or general anesthesia, the ova are extracted from the body. Using ultrasound images as a guide, the physician inserts through the vagina a thin needle connected to a suction device, up to the ovaries (follicles) to extract the ova.
At the same time, the couple will deliver a sperm sample, to be prepared in special cultivation mediums in the laboratory.

3. Fertilization:
Reunion of every ovum with a determined number of spermatozoon in special cultivation mediums, that will facilitate the fecundation (the entrance of a spermatozoon to the ovum).
4. Embryos Cultivation:
Once the ovum is fertilized, it becomes an embryos, which must be examined and monitored to ensure their optimal growing.
5. Embryo Transference:
The embryos are put inside the uterus from 3 to 5 days after the puncture. The proceeding is performed in the clinic, and the catheter that contains the embryos is inserted through the cervix up to the inside of the uterus. If an embryo is implanted in the uterus covering, a pregnancy is achieved!

The Intracytoplasmic sperm injection is a laboratory technique which in the fertilization stage, the spermatozoa of the best quality are injected directly in the ovum, in order to improve the possibilities of pregnancy

Ova-donation Program

The ova donations, also known as ova-donation, is a technique of assisted reproduction that has proved to have a great effectivity in patients that, for different motives, have seen their ovarian reserve affected. The ova of this patients have normally low rates of fertilization and implantation in their embryos.
In this way,  the ova donation program is used in order to achieve a pregnancy. The proceeding consists of an execution of the Ovarian Stimulation and Puncture Stage in the donor. Once the ova are obtained, those are fecundated in the laboratory with sperm from the receiver couple (the patient). The obtained embryos subsequently will be transferred to the uterus of the patient.

The ova donors are young women with less than 30 years old, whose ovarian reserve has been evaluated and considered in an excellent state. Likewise, they must fulfill all and every evaluation requisite both from the gynecologist, psychiatric and genetic point of view (karyotype) in order to ingress to the program.

Additionally, we perform a detailed evaluation in the pathology laboratory for the detection of infectious diseases like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis (VDRL), VIH, among others, in order to verify that they are not carriers of diseases potentially transmissible through their ova.

Inside our exhaustive evaluation, we make a special emphasis not only to the physical characteristics, but also their personal, familiar scholar and academic records, in order to provide a greater peace of mind and security to the couples that are going to perform a treatment with ova donation.

For the selection process, it will be performed according to the phenotype and physical characteristics of the donor with the patient (receiver). The ova donation is totally anonymous, nevertheless, the law allows to provide the patients general information of the donor without revealing their identity.
