Diagnosis and Treatment of Male Infertility
The retrieval of sperm directly from the testicle is a specialized yet simple surgical procedure that involves obtaining small tissue samples through minimal incisions in the testicle. This is performed under anesthesia using microsurgical techniques, so it does not cause pain. It is a key method to thoroughly analyze certain causes of male infertility when the semen analysis (spermogram) shows abnormal results, while also allowing the retrieval of viable sperms to be used in procedures such as ICSI.
Through microscopic analysis of the extracted tissue, it is possible to:
Confirm the presence or absence of sperm.
Evaluate the condition of the testicular tissue.
In some cases, determine the type of alteration in sperm production.
Testicular biopsy is especially recommended in cases of:

Azoospermia
(absence of sperm in the semen).

Oligospermia
(low sperm count).

Severe abnormalities in semen quality.

Azoospermia
(absence of sperm in the semen).

Oligospermia
(low sperm count).
