Egg donation in Colombia
Reprotec program
Egg donation is an act of solidarity that allows many people and couples to achieve motherhood when it is not possible with their own eggs.
At Reprotec Centro de Fertility we have a specialized egg donation insurance program, backed by specialists in assisted reproduction and an egg bank that meets the standards of health authorization.
Why egg donation?
Egg donation is an effective alternative when a woman cannot conceive with her own eggs.
It is indicated in cases such as:

Low ovarian reserve
(Insufficient amount of eggs).

Reduced oocyte quality
that decreases the probability of pregnancy with its own eggs.

Genetic diseases
to avoid transmitting to the offspring.

LGBTQ+ couples and single parents.
Participating in the program is Donating Hope:
Your eggs can become the possibility of a family for another person.
Who can donate eggs?
At Reprotec we carry out an exhaustive evaluation of all the candidates in accordance with the regulations of health authorization. Donors must meet established requirements (not modified):

How is an egg donor selected?
Here you can learn more about the program, ask the questions you need, confirm that you are interested in the selection process and receive detailed information about the following steps.
Informed consent is a medical document in which Reprotec explains in writing what the egg donation process consists of.
This is a consultation with a fertility specialist in which your medical history will open and you will have a transvaginal ultrasound to observe your ovaries.
In this session we will inquire about your occupation, habits and lifestyle, and we will talk about your motivation to donate your eggs.
In this step, the signing of informed consents is also signed with which you authorize Reprotec to carry out the analysis of your samples.
Donation/treatment process
Once the evaluation phase has been completed and approved, you will be scheduled to start the treatment to make the donation, which is developed in four steps:
Reprotec must have your consent before starting treatment for the donation. This means that it is our responsibility to ensure that you fully understand the entire process, and that you authorize us to perform medical procedures.
For a period of 10 to 12 days we will apply medicines for the growth and maturation of a greater number of eggs.
During stimulation, the specialist will perform several ultrasounds to help you observe your body's response to the drug and the growth of the follicles.
This is an outpatient procedure that takes 20 to 30 minutes with which we will extract from your ovaries all the available eggs. For this procedure, sedation is used, so you will remain at the center for at least two hours before returning home. After extracting them, the eggs are taken to the embryology laboratory for analysis and to be vitrified, that is, to be frozen and preserved in the egg bank.
After follicular aspiration we will continue to temporarily monitor you to know that you are doing well in your daily life.
The overall estimate of the duration of the process (including the selection phase) is approximately 3 months:
the selection takes on average 2 months and medical treatment around 15 days.
Confidentiality and fate of eggs
Egg donation in Colombia is anonymous by law. At Reprotec we handle your data with absolute confidentiality. Receiving couples only access information on the donor’s phenotype (height, color and type of hair, eye and skin color) to seek physical affinity; No personal or contact information is shared.
Once the donation is made, the eggs will belong to the receiving person or couple and the donor will not have rights over them.
Does the donation have costs for the donor?
No. Reprotec covers what is necessary to complete the donation process and makes free tests and evaluations available to the donor. In addition, transportation to the center for drug administration is covered. In the virtual informative talk (held on Thursdays) this point is expanded.
