He received his M.D. degree from Universidad del Rosario, Faculty of Medicine in Bogota – Colombia and did his formal residency training in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the McGill University Health Center – Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal – Canada. He holds a consultant certification by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and The Medical Council of Canada and is board eligible in obstetrics and gynecology in the United States. He has subspecialty training – fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md, USA. During his training he received The Wyeth Award for Excellence in Reproductive Endocrinology, and the Brian Newton Memorial Award. In 2022, during a sabbatical year in France, he had additional training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at Cochin Hospital, Clinique Baudelocque with Prof Jean Bernard Dubuisson in Paris, as well as in Assisted Reproduction at the Antoine Béclère Hospital in Clamart with Profs. Rene Frydman, Francois Olivennes and Renato Fanchin. He has been a member of The American Fertility Society (AFS) today American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Society of Reproductive Surgeons since 1983. He is fellow of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). He is also member of The Colombian National Academy of Medicine and The European Society of Human Reproduction and Embriology (ESHRE), the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), The American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), The Johns Hopkins Medical and Surgical Association and the Colombian Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FECOLSOG). He was Head of the Division of Reproductive Medicine at Fundación Santa Fe de Bogota University Hospital for 20 years, and is professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Universidad El Bosque, Universidad de Los Andes and Fundación Universitaria de Ciencias de la Salud (FUCS)nin Bogota – Colombia. He belongs to the Transword Innovation Network (TWIN), former Kellog Innovation Network form the Kellog School of Business – Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill, USA. He is a Founding Member of REPROTEC Fertility Center in Colombia, where he presently directs the Fertility Preservation Program. He is President of the Board of Directors of Fundacion Orientame – ESAR in Bogota, Colombia.
